Penitence is defined by the Merriam- Webster dictionary as: “a feeling of deep sadness because you have done something wrong.” Now we all get these feelings from time to time and we never do repent for what we have done. Sometimes we do not understand why we have these feelings as “everyone else is doing it” and this is the mentality we need to get out from under. We need to sincerely and positively ask God for forgiveness as when the the End of Days happens, you want to be in the right line going past Peter at the Gates of Heaven.
Luke says this best in Luke 24:47 which states, “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Let your actions dictate on what good deeds you have performed in your life. It is said in the Book of Job 42: 5-6, “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Does not Jesus say in Luke 5:32, “ I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” It is also stated in John 3:17 that, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
In 2 Peter 3:9, Peter writes, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Lastly, in Romans 2:4, “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”
I am not preaching about the Apocalypse today folks, that is not my style what so ever, but to wake you up and hear the voice the is inside of everyone of you to listen to it, take its word to your heart, and live by it. There are a lot of nasty and horrendous acts befalling Christians in the news today, such as what ISIS is doing in Iraq. If it were not for the Kurds standing their ground, thousands of more Christians would be dead today. Please pray for more help for these people and the failure to ISIS from forming a Caliph in that part of the world.
